MassExcellence Award Application Writing Workshop
Date: August 21, 2008
Time: 8:30 AM —4:30 PM
Location: American Red Cross of Central Mass
Address: 2000 Century Drive
City: Worcester, MA
Benefits to Attending—Our one–day workshop provides a look at the various organizational approaches you can use to write, edit, and finalize a Baldrige–based application suitable for submittal to the MassExcellence Award Program or to the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Program in Washington DC. Each attendee (or each team) will develop a project plan that can be used to assist in keeping the discipline going to complete an application. We will also have each attendee or team write a basic foundation which will help expedite your work when returning to your company. You will leave here with everything you need to begin your application writing activity. This is a very timely workshop, in that applications are not required to arrive at MassExcellence until December 2008.
Who Should Attend—Senior leaders who wish to learn more about learning and championing the process, application project owners, and participating teams. Traditionally, this workshop has much more value if a team from each company attends. Although it helps, attendees are not required to have a well-versed understanding of the Baldrige Criteria for this particular workshop.
The Faculty —Len Deneault is a native New Englander who brings to the table a wide range of business experience in high–tech manufacturing, non–profits, government and healthcare. He is presently an adjunct professor at Bentley College in Waltham, MA and Rivier College in Nashua, NH, conducting classes in organizational excellence, quantitative process improvement, and operations management. In addition, he has served as a Senior and Alumni Examiner for the U.S. Department of Commerce Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Program, whose charter is to improve national competitiveness and organizational excellence. He is a co–author of the first non–profit based case study used by the Program to train National and state–level Baldrige Examiners in preparation for their assessments of aspiring world–class organizations. He has taught the Baldrige Criteria at the Boston and Portland Coast Guard Stations, the US Coast Guard Academy, and Fort Dix in New Jersey.
